HOG RODEO BANDERA TEXAS

Pigs are really sensitive
To their environment
They have no sweat glands
Unlike you and me
They need to keep,
out of the heat
They need fluids
Rodeo will surely get them beat

Pulling out their tusks
Would be painful
And stressful and yes painful
Giving shock
An anxiety for certain
Before they start the rodeo
Chasing in the heat
Running amok

Cowboys and cowgirlsTo
To me they seemingly
Appear forgetful
and indifferent to the heat
Inconsiderate to the animals
they are chasing
Distracted by the ability
to compete
Being unobservant
of the suffering
Of animals
for whatever cause
If we are teaching children
To be responsible
people
Perhaps we ought
spend some time just to pause

Okay with living in Texas
And animals get to be
Chased around and beaten up
It’s what the people see
But is it right or is it wrong
Unthinkable perhaps
These are fearful animals
Beaten up and slapped

For me it feels illogical
Quibbling chicanery
Sponsors think it’s worthwhile
A lack of vision possibly
Cruelty is paramount
It’s folly to regret
After all is said done
Really just to let

So called cowboys render
Cruelty on hogs
Chase them rope them pull them down
This oafishness it dogs
The spirit and the senses
It’s fatuous to me
Unenlighted and improper
And is actual cruelty

Animals have feelings
Their sinews ache like ours
Thrown down and roped they injure
Doing this for hours
They don’t get paid for doing this
In fact the stress and strain
Busted joints and bruises
To me it’s just insane

What’s wrong with all you Texas folk
Your not cowboys today
You are veterans and ranchers and fire fighters
You say
Truck drivers
A time to let your hair down, and go wild
And take it out on the poor old hogs
That you lot have defiled

And it’s all for real good causes
The girls and boys around
Community you call it
The hogs all those abound
Limping hurting being beaten
Just animals we know
There to be taken advantage of
And ignored it’s one big show

BANDERA Ham Hog Rodeo
10 dollars gets you in
5 dollars for kids over 5
Music and a din
As laughter screams and agony
Are the order of the day
With singing and with laughter
And cruelty all the way
