Dog rescue

Called out to a dog
Running down a road
A little grey dog
Of no fixed abode
Clearly was frighted
And hungry and lean
And it was hard to catch him
Because at the scene
He ran about wildly
Wouldn’t stay still
With cars driving passed
Anyone might kill
Or injure a dog
So we had to try
And two of us managed
With a cage
Which was why

When we got to the vet
The dog had calmed down
Had taken some treats
And reaching the town
And the clinic
The vet
Found ticks everywhere
And anaplasmosis
Where animals share
Disease with humans
So he
had to be treated
And was and was washed
Rapidly

After feeding recovered
and at foster home
He is ever so friendly
With the cats he does roam
Clearly good natured
And wanting to be
In a forever home
Which we all want to see
