Badger Boy

Of mortal fear and terror
Where the sett is home to be
A badger bold though timid
In his perfect sanctuary
Valour is a key word in his vital armoury
A brave face to the outside world
Flushed by tenacity
Fear and trepidation
The flutter and the shock
Uneasiness abounds today
Such phobias unlock
What is a paranoia
From evil men who feel
The need for blame and consequence
With a failure to reveal

The true and honest reasoning
For why we badgers bleed
So often in the copses
From what Is ill found greed
Singularly we suffer
A hate that we be free
And our reign of terror
Is put down to TB
Excuses and abuses
A sickness in the soul
Farms are harbouring monsters
Doom watchers who control
Our darkness and our freedom
Indiscretions now in play
Their indifference to salvation
With obscenities they say

The nobility of wildness
Each daughter of the soil
Our guts become a necklace
Such anger it does boil
Over and be rattling the sabres
At the door
We suffer so much bluster
In what is a brazen war
