“Mikki”

Fear and dread was evident
On this puppy that we found
Mange had really destroyed her skin
And she just ran around
Fearful now of everybody
Her phobias were many
When we tried to approach her
There just wasn’t any
Way to catch her
But we needed to
And so chased her
And then cornered her
With a net
And she did go
Into a model boat
In someone’s garden
And we caught
Up with her and took him home
In our blanket which she thought

Was good her skin was awful
How sore it must have been
SHe had big wounds all over her
These maggots were obscene
Eating her alive in fact
The agony and pain
We powdered her and bandaged her
And let the fester drain

Everyday we changed her dressings
Washed the wounds and gave her care
Loved her cuddled her showed affection
Every day with her did share
Time and healing soon revealing
Her skin was softer we could see
Her demeanour was improving
She was happy actually

We called her “mikki” she was joyous
She loved cuddles and we do
Always cuddle all our babies
And it’s obvious and true
Spayed her and we vaccinated
And if you see her any day
She runs about the yard like crazy
Tail a wagging she loves to play
