“Omiyu” was just one of the family
Along with Dharmi,Kalikyo and Babu
Belonging to the sadhu
Who went to prayers each day
Along the street
To the altar
The family made its way
Alas poor ”Omiyu” had been injured
And tragically alone had hidden in the temple
And the maggots they had grown
Prevalent
Inside the wound
The agony was there
It irritated him terribly
Causing much despair
The old man asked that Animal aid Unlimited
Might try
And find his lost dog for him
For wounded he might die
They looked and finally found him
curled up all forlorn
Clearly in a lot of angst
Wishing he’d not been born
They took him to the hospital
and straight away could see
His right ear it was hanging off
And damaged frightfully
maggots had take residence
And so the powder they
Dusted all around the wound
and bandaged it that day
The next of course removed the dressing
and the necrotic skin
Sedated him and cleaned him up
He was very thin
It took a month of healing
Of new dressings every day
Of love and care and cuddles
To drive his fear away
When he was healed and happy
They took him home to see
The sadhu And the other dogs
And he did so happily
“Omiyu’s” tail was wagging
A joyful boy was he
Ready to go to Pooja
With all the family
