Lughnasadh

Half way between the summer solstice
And the Autumn equinox
The sun and moon together
In the sky
This is a magickal time folks
The, annual wheat harvest
Loaf mass
and ofcourse we must ask why

The first loaf made from the first
Wheat
Sunday the fifth does see
The celtic tree of ogham
The hazel come to be
“Corpus avellana”divination stems
The best nuts from avella
Campagnia were its gems

The stems are very pliable
Baskets, hampers they
be
Often used by water witches and dowsers
Searching for to see
water and these are excellent
And who are we today
The druids inherited knowledge
Of measurements and may
Be the neolithic surveyors
Of the leys
For Understanding boudaries
In essence truly pays

Fresh baked bread an offering
An unseen source I hear
Of all things bright and beautiful
In truth I think thats clear
Druids carried hazel wands
“The nobles of the wood”
The temperature has plummeted
But apparently is still good.

The ritual the games our circle
Is welcome to everyone
We shall be playing games next week
In the light of the sun
A month or two of heatwaves
Has cast our green for we
See yellows and browns created
yes Everywhere they be

Atop the famous roll rights hill
The stones that look down ore
The chipping norton township
Sleepwalking for sure
The labyrinth lacks water
Like hedgerows everywhere
But the mole hills show their workings
And their continued care

The light is slowly fading
Though the sun be hot above
Some of the leaves have withered
But the undevided love
Of nature for its subjects
The plants the shrubs the fruit
Are paramount in every way
Right down to every root

Searching always finding
The minerals below
The microrhizal substances
That helps all things to grow
Everywhere the energy
Is sustained for all to see
And Lugh will not be abdicating soon
If you ask me
