A testament to the intolerant that is the now

A testament to the intolerant
The remorseless throw aways
The compassionless society
And the now thankless phase
The unmindful and the spiteful
Whose culpability
Is out there in the ocean
And is brought right home to me

The shoreline as a child I paddled
And now what do we see
A mass of undulation
Such impropriety
What an impending danger
Detritis at the door
Such truculence such inconsiderateness
That no one’s seen before

Incomprehensible and delusional
The corporatocracy
The vomit of the trillions
Oil based infamy
The filth within so many
Is manifest now here
We caused this without thinking
But our destiny is clear

Looming on these salty waves
These dead zones of the sea
We had so many expectations
And the outcome is that we
Are party to this evil
This pollution Of our soul
We were sold the plastic paradise
And we let them take control

Single use just throw away
Exhausting energy
We were party to the meltdown
It was easy just to be
Disrespectful of ancestors
Who had delivered well
By their care and their attention
Their heaven is our hell

No respect for anything
For the glory that was life
Anything that walked the earth
Soon got a dose of strife
Tearing through its life force
And these miracles we binned
Kneeling at the waters edge
Now we know we have sinned

We liquidated everything
An annihilated more
Everything came in plastic
It was something to adore
You couldnt throw the stuff away
It gave off life threatening gas
And it ended up in landfill
Tons of it enmasse

Like sputum and like excrement
It ended in the sea
Jettisoned by each of us
To accumulate and be
Vast areas of disbelief
Misjudgement and dissent
The ignorance of thinking
Such arrogance was meant
Unenlightened and bewildered
By the error of our ways
We stoop before the master
Realising our malaise

We polluted our own bodies
Our water and our soil
We drugged up all the animals
With cruelty and toil
We broke a lot of promises
And didnt really care
And what we see before us now
We all were unaware

And now so much pollution
Everywhere we go
And we still buy into the excess
Our credit balances grow
Everything is plastic
We need a change of mind
We all must clean up our own act
That fact is underlined

And get to work at doing it
Our own selves and to see
We cut down on excesses
And really try to be
Mindful of our environment
Our bodies and the soil
Re cycle and re use more
Set a course to toil
A little more, clean up our act
And do not just discard
Things that we feel we don’t want
For many are working hard

To clean up all our throw aways
That poison and that kill
The ocean’s clearly choking
With so much acrid spill
We must within our own selves
Realise the worth
Of Putting our houses in order
And repeating that on earth

Far away shorelines are ever more polluted
Birds and sea life are dying in their droves
Plastic and throw aways must end
We must be more mindful
