Summer solstice

Wiltshire boasts chalk downlands
A largely treeless tract
A place buzzing with energy
And how people react
To seeing Stonehenge closeup
Rising from the green
To assimilate with Nature
Which apparently has been
A constancy for aeons
Its genuineness complete
And its prehistoric footprint
Is now laid at our feet

The bus it has brought us
A short walk away
And the druids, they descend
Clad in their robes and regalia
And are about to wend
Their way up to this monument
The morris men in tow
Peeling to the left
All now in the flow

The grass it is luxurious
A spellbinding green hue
Clutching at our shoes
The sarsons coming into view
Their ancient faces given
To the light that comes to bear
That escalates our feelings
And makes us all aware

We are going back in history
Augmenting as we do
Standing in the footprints of the ancients
Good and true
Peerless and unequal
And At this moment feel
The energy bouncing off the stones
Which is beginning to reveal

A softness and a protective aura
A veil from long ago
Our circle is contained within
The sanctum
And we know
Together being whom we are
Our ritual underway
The freedom to enjoy ourselves
At the best time of the day

There is an amalgamation
Of energies for we
Feel that league
That union
Its not something you see
Its a wholeness and integrity
Comprehensively
Undivided and undiminished
Its a new found harmony

The ritual underway
The brightness of the light
The music of the morris men
In their traditional flight
The tourists on the path outside
Interested too
And the corvids nesting on the stones
Doing what they do

Our gathering depicting
Perhaps a circle where
We quaff some mead and do partake
Of fruit perhaps and some home made cake
Zakoor imparts an ode or two
Reminding us what we can do
We ephemeral beings who
Stand on this chalk plain
We Share our treasured moments
And hopefully all gain

An insight into antiquity
As with ancestors we share
Our footprint in the inner sanctum
Our energy now there
Full blown and vigourously
Left behind to be shared around
Perhaps For an eternity.
On this green and hallowed ground
