Banjo Paterson

Born in Binalong New South Wales
In 1864
Turned out to be a bush poet
His poetry was raw
The outback saw his stories
The swagman and his lot
Took the name of Banjo
From a horse
A horse he’d got
His favourite horse in all the land
Of Australia of course
A poet and a story teller
Who assumed a force

Died at the age of 76
In Sydney I hear
But wrote some lovely stories
Let me talk of one right here
Probably the most famous
Waltzing matilda he
Talked about a labourer
Who sat by a coolabah tree
Thats a eucalyptus tree
Using aboriginie
Waited till his billy boiled
A jumbuk in his tucker bag
Thats a sheep he must of stolen
Sitting by an ox bow lake
He was assaulted by some troopers
Bound to arrest him and to take
But he decided he was going
To leap into the billabong
So anyone a passing after
Might hear his ghost
Sing out his song

Waltzing Matilda sort of wandering
Aimlessly
swag on his back
Hoping Work to find
Matilda was the tool roll
A swag a thick blue blanket
And now ofcourse this famous song
It just blows our mind

Born 17/2/1864 died 5/2/1941
