From the tarn sprung so many bright petals

India took a hammering
Its caste system evolved
Across so many lines of prejudice
Nothing really solved
Sentiment and feeling
Intimacy beyond
The enchantment and bewitching factor
What is the eternal bond

The intrigue and perhaps seduction
Of the spirit and the soul
The canoodling the sweet sensation
The light of life’s control
The affection for another
Never replaced by time
The uxorious the doting
The constancy of the climb

To cherish and to cling to
To value and to prize
And really just imagine
That those with different eyes
Might choose the beau that they revere
Might dote upon today
Might just arrange your marriage
With the dowry that they pay

The affection that was mutual
A respect and sympathy
A fondness and a kindness
That burst from out of thee
That magickal experience
That fascination for
Loves young dream that manifests
To the ecstasy of sure

To feel that squeeze and pamper
That so beloved phrase
That is your every moment
Just one glance does amaze
The very sense of being
Ones mooning lovelorn dear
Moved to express such passion
With that titilating fear

Age isnt really relevant
Though culturally may be so
Its the chemistry of seeing
That surely has to grow
The sweet bouquets of loving
The sonnets that may fly
The love spoon at your table
And the touch when you know why

Caste systems create malignancy
Spread malice from the core
Sourness and mordacity
Ferociously ignore
The will and love of people
The disservice and abuse
Ill-willed and ill-wishing
How can they introduce
Such obduracy and callousness
Into a love knot who
Would dare to be that baleful
To take such a malevolent view

In india it happens almost every day
Lovers sweep emotions
And guilt stands in the way
The mood can run to anger
To suspiciousness and pain
Corruption and venality
And untruths and disdain

From integrity comes a shabbiness
And honour takes a hit
Its cultural and historic
Principled the grit
Of the conscientious lovers
Their immaculate display of ardour
For each other on any given day
Unworthiness and paltriness
Pitiable and futile
And the lowest of opinions
It just feels like a trial

The women gets the blame for this
The evildoer she
Might face the wrath of family
Rogues of infamy
Incensed with family honour
An unfeeling impassive slight
That burns out of such anger
And death she may invite

In Delhi one such vision
From the aching tarn did rise
Where the filth did curdle over time
Causing the demise
Of what was truly beautiful
But lost in pangs of awe
They call themselves the Love Commando’s
Men of peace not war

Providing secret shelters
For angels to hold out
Arranging couple counselling
Washing through the doubt
The crippling emotion
The anger and the pain
Taking on the culture
And reducing the strain

In india a marriage is the
Ultimate repose
The rural sense of justice
Really It just flows
Enormous pressures on young love
If they they have moved away
To cities to universities
Where freedoms come to play

Where new age love is frequent
It casts a light abroad
The death threats and the anger
Its more than they can afford
Some artificial caste creates
An obligatory desire
Which is seen as misogyny
And meeting fire with fire

And so they work with benevolence
Their disposition pure
Charity of spirit
Which really is the cure
Tenderness and responsiveness
And generosity
Of time of love
Samaritans they be

Go betweens they take the stress
They get death threats galore
They are truly angels
Serving love and never war
Its all done out of kindness
Magnanimously so
Gallant even chivalrous
Their love and care on show

REMEMBER THEM THE LOVE COMMandO’s
Of INDIA
