MUMMY

Existence as we perceive it
Mummification apparently
Was not the platonic action of the saints
That you and me

Imagine despite Hammer
And the glorious Christopher LEe
The bodies wrapped in swaddling
And bandaged up you see

Essentially were said to be
Protection
Immortality of heart and soul
And a general regard for hungry maggots
In essence this was groundless and pure control

Beaten into a bruised state with the lashings
But bandaged up to prevent the spirits at large
Witnessing the injuries pertaining
In essence a neolithic camouflage

Insubstantial inessentual bodiless
Baseless faceless spooky a bit vague
Chimercial imaginary bandaged to the hilt
Next world recognition from the volcanic silt

MUMMY so protected
it perhaps a sign
Of a curative response
hopefully down the line
