AVEBURY

AVebury’s great circles
Envelop minds eyes
Every souls urge
Is sacredness wise
Ancient sights
Far off lights
HAckpen Hill as we
Walk the ridgeway over yonder
Hewn so solidly

SIlbury Hill, The Sanctuary
THe Avenue The Barrows
Elves and wooden dingles
Copses through the narrows
You can feel the tingling
Running down your spine
Every inch begins to ache
But The sky scapes
Are divine

It all fascinating
The burial places here
The dolmens and the caverns
Alignments just appear
Lots of old engravings
Made by men of long ago
Or could they have come from outer space?
No one does really know

I remember the swamp road
When the sat nav lost its position
And I drove into hell and back
On a solid mission
With a good friend by my side
And an owl or two around
Having to reverse through all that mud
Knowing we could have drowned

Will stay with me forever
Brushed off by my dear friend
Who actually i felt for
And the messages she did send
She was for me my mentor
Avebury she knew
The grass was very squelchy
And that I can say was true
