Samhain

Can you feel the energy
Whose hand do you now feel
Is it warm or cold as ice
Tell me is it real?

Is it someone’s ancestor
Called back through the veil
Looking out to Chipping Norton
Look at her is she pale

The head torch it will show you
Her countenance divine
And is she standing with you
Sharing the mead wine

Was she truly visible
Or only in your thought
What were her characteristics
Did they make you overwrought

We share this Samhain circle
With great spirits of before
Who had their authenticity
And have come in through our door

Our shared breath rises slowly
To the clouds we cannot see
And inside this wondrous circle
Our noble constancy

Below our feet the hallowed ground
Around the stalwart stones
And all of us together
Held up on Snow White bones

The channels now are opening
That connection can you feel
The lights of comprehension
What do they reveal

An ensemble of pure voices
Inclusive and as one
Mindful of our situation
Now the day is done

Around us are the sentinels
The vanishing trees that glare
And on them are the Owls whose eyes
Are looking everywhere

This is our culmination
Our solidarity
Our replenishment which is everything
As the fire burns bright we see

The spirits in the darkness
The veil it shudders so
It’s the end of the beginning
And all of us can grow

Into our continuity
Unbroken we shall fly
holding hands forever
Up into the sky

Our circle and our gathering
Our eisteddfod in a way
We assemble in this aura
Of ROLLRIGHTS On this day

SAmhain is upon us
A time when we can feel
The veil has duly opened
And what it does reveal

Are the ancestors before us
We welcome them and say
Together welcome all of you
On this the chosen day

And into perpetuity
It’s Upon this day that we
Those who leave the mortal plain
May return again to see
To hold a hand they recognize
And to take part as before
In The permanence of this ritual
With its partially open door
