Mc Donalds and the rest of them

Self interest is paramount
In their whole way
Of conducting business
Every day
Regardless of harm to others
They be
There to make money
Thats all they see

Thats their priority
Thats what they do
Its not flesh and blood
Its the boardroom
That view
The balance sheet
Profit and loss
And some more
And its never ending
And that is for sure

Many potentials
Commensurate to
The appropriate margins
The logical view
Each to his own
Maybe so but today
The great corporation
Appears here to stay

Their goals may be
Arbitrary
And misplaced as well
But nothing unnerves them
Its all about sell
And sell and sell more
Its a rootless desire
To succeed any deed
And to do it with fire

Fire in the belly,
Of caustic concern
Animals people there is nothing to learn
They do what they are told
And they head hunt the best
Pay them big salaries
And that does the rest

Social contracts and mindfulness
Doesn’t have a chance
Ethical concerns
If it can enhance
Their figures then maybe
If not it won’t be
Possible clearly
For they cannot see

To work in a corporate
Brainwashing matters
You do what makes money
This ideology to some
It just shatters
All of their thinking
What makes them whole
That is the placement
For a true soul

Take fish a commodity
Openly sold
Terrible by-catch
You’d be out in the cold
Worrying knowing so many are
Pirated and caught
Probably from far

From where they now should
And not the right size
Over the quota
Its no surprise
Corporate catches
Are over the top
Its all about money
And so will not stop

It is humans running them
But they are lost
Huge salaries really
And so they are tossed
Into a whirlpool
Where anything goes
And this is what happens
Thats how it flows

They transcend formal commerce
Believing that they
Are the supreme masters
And all must pay
Whatever the price is
For they made it so
s to the trillions of victims
They don’t want to know

It hard to get through to them
They are machines
Yes they wear trousers
Possibly jeans
Yes they wear shirts
And leggings too
But their mind set is
Profit just profit
All through

They cannot see light
If darkness they need
They cannot see blood
When others do bleed
Its all about money
Its the cash flow and more
Performance and budgets
And the big open door

We stand on the touch line
And yell in the air
Waving our banners
Trying to share
The wisdom of old
With the machineS of the new
Our medley of slogans
All of them true

But tHey are not heard
They have no care
We can be blue in the face
Unaware
People its not about people for they
Can head hunt who ever
Who will think their way

And each corporation
Is a link in a chain
That spreads every which way
And then back again
They feather their own nests
And pat their own backs
And paper it over
And hide all the cracks

We can tell everybody
What they have done
With the money they earned
In their hours in the sun
But if its making money
Then that is the way
Tear down the forests
Just to make way

For palm oil for buildings
Collateral loss
the animals
The indigenous
All that they toss
Onto a big graph that hangs on the wall
It just doesn’t matter
It doesn’t matter at all

Its all continuity
Its all about scale
Turning stuff over
The money trail
Its uninterrupted
Its cumulativeness
Its incorporation
And nothing less

So we talk up commodities
And the collateral cost
But high in the chambers
The big boys are lost
They can’t see the eye of the needle today
Only the cotton when it wears away

As for Mc Donalds and others what we
Have to do is keep trying
And one day they will be
So far up the Swanned
In such a huge mess
That somebody somewhere
Will help them redress

As we win one vote
They win many more
The times have been changing
I stand at their door
Pleading with them
Saying what they must do
Is remember the environment
We all live there too
