Madaya in Syria

A mountainous coastal town
In war torn SYRIA
Its people suffering terribly
For they are caught between
The proverbial rock and the hard place
And whats going on there
Is obscene

A siege and many suffering lamentably
No food no water no electricity
At all
People are killing stray cats
And eating them raw
Living on leaves and melted snow
Ignore
The news they talk so many lies
About them
This is the reality of life
Humanity has all gone out the window
Now existence is something thats called strife

Aid is going to be coming in the BBC have said
Many hAve been fainting others falling dead
There is no future without food and water
The children and the elderly they know
They are dying daily as the winter cold sets in
Aid cannot come too quickly they are low
Compassion is a word that doesn’t matter
So what if people die the great powers say
In the end we all are just the people
So all of us must do something today

Our government must make attempts to sort this
The US and the Russians equally
People in this day and age should never reach this level
They are dying of starvation awfully
This place was once a holiday place
And now its reached a low
Talking doesn’t cook the rice and really nothing there is nice
People just like us prepare to die

They grovel looking for a cat to slit its throat
And drink its cold blood that is how they are
Or eat grass from the meadow or water with some spice
These are desperate families and this will not suffice
We have to pull our fingers out we cannot let this be
Not under our watch no no not ever should we see
These Syrian people reduced to this its terror at their door
Lets do what ever we can do but certainly not ignore
