Tribute to Cecil

800 milk cartons
Think of the calves
The special tribute
Not done in halves
Cecil the Lion heart
Had he took heed
Of the dentist called Palmer
Who did succeed

Animals suffer in life
And in death
John F Kennedy school
Yes take a deep breath
Cecil remains in the hearts
Of us all
And his memory
Permeates throughout
The school

Enticed from his safe place
By a carcass applied
To the back of some truck
Which of course they denied
This vile criminality
Corruption it buys
It pays off the powerful
The government guys

Poor Cecil fell foul
Of the man with his bow
Who Knows of amalgam
And how it does grow
As a serious defect
In side our head
This the bold hunter
And Cecil now dead

I hope his extraction
From Africa was
At the root of it all
Really because
How thus man sleeps at night
Only he knows
As for the milk cartons
Really they pose

Even more terror
For cows and their calves
Nothing on earth now
Is done by halves
800 cartons less milk
Went to those
Who would have grown bonny
And really it shows

How unenlightened the people
Have become
Africa frowns looking
So very glum
We wait to see whether
The dentist will pay
Will be locked up
Or will get his sentence
One day

The students were figuring
Out what to do
Recycle the milk cartons
It was their view
Cecil the Lion at the rainbow bridge
Sighs
Palmer got away
On a whole bunch of lies

The students alas they drank milk
Every day
Collected the cartons
They needed to say
Cecil was prominent in their psyche
But all those poor calves
That they couldN’t see
Were sacrificed really
Just so that they
Could make Cecil come to life
In this sad way

800 milk cartons later
We see
More milk was bought
From the great big dairy
Not in the sky folks
But around our feet
The corporate message
Of course the elite

An advertisment
For the dairies for they
Saw their profit rise a bit
And it did play
Into their budget
Out into the world
Where all these dead calves
Had quietly been hurled
