Samaritan Purse

Look out in the sea a colourful craft
Packed to the gunnels with people
Its daf’t
So sad
So ridiculous
So many souls
Huddled together
Seemingly poles
Away from normality
Locked in this way
Bobbing and rocking out in the sea spray

Arriving at Lebos
All these refugees
Somehow together
Somehow they did squeeze
Into an inflatable
Rocked too and fro
Just by themselves
Alone they did go

And now they are lost
To the world
Through the great
Storm of life
They were hurled
And now they are somewhere
Some other souls stand
On the beach other roles
Helping them understand
Guiding them slowly into the shore
Clambering over the rocks
The passion raw
Children look cold
They are wet
Some are blue
The rescuers standing there
Maybe its you

They just open their hearts
Help by being there
As others are facing
Such awful despair
Imagine their plight
Imagine their woe
Imagine their pain
When deciding to go

Leaving behind their lives really they
Were pushed into these boats
To sail far away

Without any idea
Where they could be
At the bottom perhaps
Of the salty sea
These are the lucky ones
They Have survived
They wanted to so much
How they have strived

To get where they are
And they are here today
Infants and children
Wet with the spray

Those war making bastards
They know who they are
Invading Iraq on a whim
Just to spar
With the oil and the money
The grey suits proclaim
It was because of Saddam Hussain

Now all we have left are the ruins of war
The ugliness unfairness and so much more
These are its victims people like you
And me but for fortune
What can we do

We can extend our hand
Extend our hearts
Try to understand
Its us on the carts
We all are the flotsum and jetsum
Of life
Caused by the grey suits
Their psychopathy rife

Who live in their mansions
Or are on speaking tours
Grabbing vast sums of money
And the direst applause
From the wankers supporting them
Yes men who go
Along with this carnage
As the refugees grow

Boat loads arriving
Though many are lost
Imagine those moments
That terrible cost
As babies are flung
Into cold salty sea
People like you and people
Like me

All human beings wanting to live
Who were promised a life
But now they must give
Up everything they worked for
Really to be
Huddled together on the salt sea
