Excitement

Excitement
Opening presents
Joy in every form
Great big eyes
All realise
Their satisfaction warm
Showing everybody
What they have got so true
Some had very little
Whilst others made it through

Here we see at yule tide
Masses of expensive gifts
Some parents give up so much
And often there are rifts
Children don’t like what they get
Or think they should have more
Yule and giving presents
Is not what life is for

Sharing with each other
A love of human kind
Is more to do with heartfelt care
Than material things I find
Much of this corporate splatter
Is costing the earth such pain
How nice it is to see genuine joy
On young faces again
