Kabu the elephant

The wailing and the agony
And the need of it to be
Kept inside her body
All that adversity
Not to broadcast agony
Not to scream aloud
But keep it bottled up inside
And remain somewhat proud

Kabu she was stolen from the wilds
A while ago
She had babies one is dead now
The other joined a show
He does rides for tourists
Thats his miserable lot
Whilst Kabu has been rescued
She had somehow lost the plot

Working for those logging corporations
How she slaved
Chained up and beaten often
Trying hard she saved
Herself a bit from falling
And restraining herself she
Ended up with painful legs and feet
As we can see

It was all for bloody decking
And cheap garden seats for those
Pumped up western idiots
Where just anything goes
She worked from early morning
To nightfall every day
Pulling logs down mountains
They really made her pay

And her legs and feet are crippled
I lament to see her sigh
She is crying deep in side her heart
Trying to reach the sky
Trying to walk a little faster
Trying to make it work
But so pained throughout her body
Where the acidity does lurk

Now she has been rescued
And given a new lease of life
Every step she makes brings back
The hours and hours of strife
The bull hook that she felt a lot
From men the greedy sods
Who wanted her to work faster
They were all devoid of gods

How they could really torture her
For years on end and see
Her suffering so terribly
And never really be
Feeling of her exhaustion
Of her fear her woe her pain
Her struggle just to climb and pull
And do it all again

And now she bears the scars of woe
Every where she has to go
A slow gait each step doth deplore
The irksomeness yes and some more
So little pity did they share
They were ruthless to her
They didn’t care
As long as she worked and pulled the logs
Through all those swampy heavy bogs
As the years went by she suffered so
And still they didn’t want to know

Now she resting she ‘s survived
Despite the fact that her life nose dived
All her weight on those crippled thighs
That some people cannot realise
Thats why her gait is terribly slow
Thats why she rocks about now so
Every step is such agony
And is just part of her memory
