What have we done to deserve this

Living under the sea
Wearing armour all day
You would think we’d be safe
That we wouldn’t have to pay
But up against humans
Inexplicably
They have the notion
That it has to be

Our diet is terrible
We choose to eat
Carrion we are the vultures
Our meat
is made up of
What has gone rotten but you
Still like to consume
Us
Alas it is true

But why punish us
In such a way
What have we done to deserve
This today
At the best boiled alive
At the worst slapped in trays
And then suffocated
Just two of the ways
Nirvana is ours
At the flick of a flame
It’s a terrible death
But it’s part of your game

Now in a market in Florence
It seems
A store manager there
And some of his teams
Pack us in trays and then plastic clear
And offer us for sale
With foreboding and fear
Pronto pronto selling us fast
Touch the clear plastic
And yes be aghast
We move underneath
We are still alive
Though the air is now failing
Can we survive/
Will we still be breathing
By the time we are sold
In the fridge in the cooking pot
Can we keep hold

Of life on this mortal coil
Knowing that we
Will end up boiled red
Yes that’s where we will be
Humans are vile creatures
Thats what we know
And despite our armour
It really does show
The wicked intent
The degeneration
The shamelessness
And the perverted creation
How man un kind has been reduced
Let’s us say
To a carrion minded
Immoral display
Graceless infernal
Indecent as hell
And this point of sale
Cooked up as well

On this point it is frightful
We try to remain
Alive in good health
But this is the bane
We choke lack of air
Lack of care lack of heart
Why do this to us
How did it all start
What is it about
The pain of it all
Boiling alive
Where we tumble and fall

It’s terribly stressful
Insidious stuff
Pollution is everywhere
We’ve had enough
Your misfeasance is shocking
What can we do
Once we are trapped
In those pots
How we rue
The darkness you carry
Your murderous ways
It’s so all one sided
It’s like a malaise

You don’t seem to care
You must know the pain
We cant live without air
Isn’t that plain
