Oxfordshire boasts a yellow stone
that masons sculpt and build
all the way to Roll Right’s
where the standing stones concealed
in trees and in a circle
ragged stones now be
lichen embellished obelisks
clothed in mystery
other worldly spirituals
a Druidic ceremony
held within a circle
of friends, who seek to be
Protecting,creating strength and Peace
to everyone alive
on this marvellous Planet Earth
where most of us survive
and on this Summer Solstice
the longest day
in time
when the sun god rules
with majesty
tis then all hearts do climb
together clasping hands
we felt the influence and power
the strength and understanding
and the justice of the hour
love within the circle
a warmth,
a caring, we
could feel all that togetherness
and all that energy
as the songbirds watched, for me
their twittering it had ceased
they were clearly witness to it all
and not the least
the coming together of existences
they heard the silent call
and their respect was honoured
we roared into the sky
used the breath we were born with
the element to defy
the pagan ladies took the lead
in white they led us through
the standing stones were party
to the ritual, good and true
around us gently swaying trees
as the sanctity was drawn
a peacefulness was felt by all
an invocation torn
from
ancestral rites,. and those who met
to work for good and grace
a blessedness of spirit
a pilgrimage, a place
within the Roll Right’s circle
a meeting of like minds
where all around the trees and
wild plants clarity enshrines
some people came just to observe
others heard the call
the Pagan’s Prayer recited
the food and wine
that school
the ancient rites and wisdom
it had all been cast
upon this Summer Solstice
mirrored in the past
the many generations shared
an inspirational interlude
as all of us we clearly knew
the energies around
evolving and resolving
a conduit of sound
of hearts and souls and matter
a sincerity, a cause
the candle and the incense
and the generous applause
moved by the occasion
the light brightened our eyes
our hearts warmed to the message
which came as no surprise
