The Raccoon Bill so called HB423( Shared with Georgia wildlife commission)

Georgia wants  a new law passed

to open up a way

of training dogs to

scare the life out

of wild souls

they say

the raccoon doesn’t get killed

so whats it all about

it illustrates the perversion

of  what hunting is

I doubt

they even stopped to contemplate

the rigour and the pain

the stress it causes to a wild soul

trapped

its the disdain

of putting a frightened earthling

into a metal cage

the object of the exercise

to drive the dogs to rage

to tear around and growl and bark

to violate and scare

its menacing, its ominousness

its threatful and unfair

this is a feral animal

trapped and in a cage

the raccoon is very adaptable

but would find it hard to gauge

the severity of the moment

it intimidates and shocks

its a challenge to their being

humanity unlocks

malevolent intention

blood thirstiness for we

can hear those raging dogs

their base ferocity

as such the  worst intentions

will be picked up and we

want to pass a bill to let this

happen tragically

to legitimize feral trapping

of live raccoons as bait

for sporting competitions

I just cannot relate

to people who would do this

to another living soul

who has as much right

to be where it was put

in its den or in its hole

if its opportunistic

it has a mind to feel

and being dragged across a field

how would that appeal

its barbaric even

to contemplate

the rigour of that scene

it smacks of a

malfeasance

and of course its extremely mean

game animals

sport hunting

this vile terminology

is speaking of a created soul

with a place in life

the key

issue here

its habitat

its being lost to those

who move in

and expect wild souls

to go the way of crows

we also must remember

wild feral souls can be

a risk, to the canine tribe

diseases they can free

distemper

parvovirus

rabies it can be

a risk and we must

understand

the true complexity

That animals will be set free

once the trainings done

is no argument to do this

it leaves me cold

to have won

one’s freedom

after being trapped and tortured

seems to me

we have not learned a great deal

from our chequered history

WE WON! The raccoon torture bill (HB 423) has been defeated! The Georgia General Assembly 2014 session has ended and HB 423, which would have allowed hunters to use live raccoons as bait to train their dogs, DID NOT PASS. We extend a huge t…See more
