A rather sinister sad story of Greece and how its affecting the people there

A women in Athens
had not enough money
she needed to bury her brother who’d died
it was terribly hot and with no air conditioning
she had to leave his corpse
there by her side

he died on the Saturday
but nobody wanted
to help her to take him
so what she tried
was contacted the TV
and finally someone
came forward to help her
it seemed she’d relied

on a funeral director
with heart and she found him
her brother was finally taken away
he had been sick with all kinds of problems
the funeral home wanted
and the fortune but a fortue that day

that amount of money she couldn’t
she didn’t have any where near that sum
so it appeared
before she got help
that she just had to sit with him
decomposing around her
which was what she feared

the church and the hospital
they too unhelpful
she was so desperate
really it shows
the desperate plight of people
in that country
where woefulness clearly
now truthfully grows

we know how the animals suffer
the torment
of a broken society
as do those who
want some sort of life
from the strife thats around them
but tragically this story
proves now how true

it is for so many
who live in the direst
of circumstances when a country
like Greece
suffer the exploits of
crippling bankers
whose corruptive practices
seemed to release

such evil and squalor
in ordinary people
who prior to this
had a reasonable life
now its all gone wrong
they are steeped in frustration
nobody really can escape the strife

we must feel for that women
desperate and lonely
her brother dies suddenly
in a hot flat
nobody’s working
nobody wants him
a terrible predicament
but where Greece was at
