Winter owl( little observational piece)

Where do birds go
when blizzards roll in
up into roof spaces
behind barn doors
today heading home
an owl brown and tawny
came out of the forest
to massive applause

a crashing of wings
on a snow spattered splutter
brought down a great chunk of snow
to the ground
the owl just a flash
it was gone in a moment
but clearly its bulk
made that terrific sound

its beak and its talons
armed for its lifestyle
its strange looking cats eyes
it flew and was gone
as I slid and I slithered
the roads full of snow
were clearly so dangerous
more so upon

brakes rendered useless
the owl goodness knows where
the snow beating down
and the wind it did roar
the trees wet and icy
like snow fans approaching
where do the birds go
and still I’m unsure
