The Eight Immortals House 22 Jalan Lakasamana 75000 Melaka

Quain’t, might paint
The 8 Immortals
tea pots by the score
tea cups, Tea. and antiques
be
in this marvellous store
the dedication hits you
as you walk in, you see
a man who unbelievably
clearly loves his tea
all blends, some many decades
cherished and valued by
some 20 year old Pu Erh
which is really why
officianado’s appreciate
the sanctity that’s here
brews of vintage quality
from no where just appear
they toiled in sun drenched gardens
who knew the need to grow
to compost, and respect the tea
to understand the flow
the Autumnal rains
the magic, that takes place
in the soil
the caring, sharing, soul comparing
tenderness and toil
a picture of contentment
its mirrored on their faces
a rich supply of tiny pots
all made in different places
crafted by old potters
who worked the blood red clay
who turned it into works of art
and receptacles each day
such true dedication and prowess
to the task
rich dark sodden clays
transformed into a classic flask
it took a wealth of doing
a creative spirit too
an equivalance with Nature
and the need to slowly brew
The 8 Immortals house
is one of curiosity
measured by its amazing
wealth and charm and sanctity

In Jalan Laksamana a busy street
that leads
directly into Dutch Square
its tourist business feeds
the cendol sellers possibly
and others, but to see
the 8 Immortals House close by
is Melaka’s, efficacy
its a journey back in time in fact
its a voyage that stretches far
back to before antiquity
you sit down there and are
on polished trunks
and on polished roots
a second generation
of spirit from the forest
I left there,
with elation
I would return
I so could discern
the pull
that had me beat
20 year old Pu erh Tea
what an amazing treat!

so to all you, well, high flyers
and others of you who care
for all things bright and
beautiful
I urge you to go there
for there is dedication
not just for commercial gain
but for the art of preserving artifacts
really this is the main
objective, you can feel it
in this most eclectic place
vast arrays of Chinese and Taiwan wares
replace
the commercially, produced stuff
that litters stores around
Melaka and so many other cities
